Bobowski, Jewett, Lampson Named Softball Captains for 2022-23

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lauren Bobowski, Brianna Jewett and Kaitlin Lampson have been named Harvard Softball team tri-captains for the 2022-23 academic year, head coach Jenny Allard announced today. The trio was appointed to lead the Crimson in a vote by their teammates.

Bobowski, a rising junior, patrolled the outfield in all 42 games in 2022. The centerfielder was an All-Ivy League First-Team selection after she hit .278, led the team with four sacrifice hits and had an Ivy-best 18 stolen bases. Voted as the team's Best Defensive Player, Bobowski registered a .964 fielding percentage.

Jewett, a senior next season, saw action in the circle as a pitcher, while also contributing at the plate in 2022. The Long Beach, Calif., native, who was one of three captains in 2021-22, made 12 appearances, all in relief, and finished with a 1-0 record to go with a 2.66 ERA, which ranked second on the team, across 23.2 innings. In the batter's box, Jewett logged an official at-bat nine times and completed the year with two hits, a run scored and one RBI. Last week, Jewett was named to the co-recipient of Harvard's Betty Ippolito Legacy Award, which is given annually to the player who has done the most to continue the tradition of excellence within Harvard Softball. Jewett shared the honor with the recently graduated Morgan Melito.

An honorable mention All-Ivy League choice in 2022, Lampson will enter her final season coming off a junior campaign in which she saw action in 41 games with 35 starting assignments. The shortstop hit .255 with 15 runs scored, two doubles and seven RBI, while going a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen-base attempts. Lampson, along with Jewett, has championship experience having helped Harvard claim the 2019 Ivy League title.

All three were instrumental in the Crimson returning to play in 2022 for the first time since 2020 and completing a season for the first time since 2019. The trio guided Harvard to 22 wins and a spot in the Ivy League Playoff Series, where it pushed Princeton to three games. When the dust settled, the Crimson logged a final record of 22-20, marking its 14th consecutive season with a .500-or-better effort, extending the program standard.
