CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For a fourth-consecutive season, Harvard softball is back in the Ivy League Tournament, as the Crimson begins its postseason journey against Columbia on Thursday, May 7 in Princeton, New Jersey.

CRIMSON UPDATES
- Harvard softball enters the weekend as the No. 2 seed in this year's Ivy League Tournament, as the Crimson finished the regular season with a 21-21-1 record and a 12-9 record in Ivy League play.
- The Crimson ended the 2026 regular season on the road at Columbia, picking up the series win in the Big Apple.
- The series started off with a marathon contest, as the Crimson toppled the Lions, 9-3, after 13 innings at the Columbia Softball Stadium. Tied up at 3-3 in the top of the 13th inning, Harvard's offense exploded for six runs, highlighted by a go-ahead grand slam from junior infielder Sophie Sun.
- After dropping the second game of the series, 9-6, the Crimson rebounded with a 6-3 victory in the series finale. First-year infielder Hannah Ziecik drove in a team-high two runs, as senior pitcher and team captain Ryan Grace struck out a career-best seven batters across 4.2 hitless and scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
- A native of Sammamish, Washington, Grace finished the weekend with a perfect 0.00 ERA, picking up eight strikeouts while only allowing two hits across nine innings of work.
- At the plate, Sun posted a .533 batting average with eight hits, two home runs and six RBIs.
- Harvard's team captains this season are Grace, junior outfielder Audrey Szollosi and junior utility Megan Davies.
- Head coach Jenny Rohn is in her third season at the helm of the Harvard softball program. Leading the Crimson to a fourth-straight trip to the Ivy League Tournament and a share of the regular season title in 2024, Rohn is 109-98-1 in her coaching career and 74-51-1 in her three seasons at Harvard.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
- The side that the Crimson faced to close out the 2026 regular season, Columbia is 20-21 this season and went 12-9 in conference play this year.
- Sophomore pitcher/utility Caylene Nguyen (.337) and senior outfielder Eleni Katsivalis (.321) lead the Lions in batting average, while first-year pitcher Mads Lawson leads the Ivy League in ERA (2.39) across a 140.2 innings in the circle.
- Columbia qualifies for the Ivy League Tournament in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history.
SERIES HISTORY
- Harvard and Columbia renewed its rivalry on the softball diamond last week, as the Crimson extended its all-time series lead against the Lions, 47-15, as the two sides first met during the 2001 season.
- The two programs meet in the first round of the Ivy League Tournament for a second consecutive season, as Columbia earned a 2-1 win last season.
R.O.Y FACTORY
- The last three Ivy League Rookies of the Year are all products of the Crimson, as Harvard is the first school in conference history to produce three consecutive Rookie of the Year honorees.
- Sophomore infielder Alexa Muller won 2025 Ivy League Rookie of the Year after shining at the plate, especially in conference play.
- A native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Muller led all first-years last season in the Ancient Eight in batting average (.368) and hits (28). A native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Muller ranked third in batting average (.436) and second in on-base percentage (.515) in Ivy League contests last season.
- The 2024 season saw Sun orchestrate one of the greatest rookie seasons in recent memory, leading all first-years in the NCAA in slugging percentage (.797) and ranked third among all first-years in the nation in batting average (.421).
- Senior pitcher Riley Flynn was the 2023 Ivy League Rookie of the Year after setting a new program record for saves in a season with six, as the Phoenix, Arizona native was the 2023 Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player after tallying 11 innings in all three wins for the Crimson.
- First-year outfielder Sheila Forbes is a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week honoree this year, as the Naples, Florida native ranks third on the team in batting average (.354) and second in on-base percentage (.444) this season.
HERE COMES THE SUN
- Now in her third season with the Crimson, Sun is one of the most explosive and exciting offensive talents in the Ivy League.
- Starting in all 43 games at shortstop this season, Sun leads Harvard in batting average (.404), OPS (1.201), runs (40), hits (59), doubles (10), home runs (13) and RBIs (51) this season.
- Sun's 13 home runs are tied for second most in a single season in school history, as Sun is only the third student-athlete in program history to record 50 or more RBIs in a one season. A native of Austin, Texas, Sun is the only active student-athlete in the Ivy League to post a batting average above .400 in each of the last three years.
- The first student-athlete in conference history to win Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season, Sun ranked in the top five in the Ivy League in batting average (.411), on-base percentage (.469), runs scored (33), hits (53) and total bases (81) during the 2025 season.
- A 2024 Top 10 Finalist for the Tucci/NFCA Freshman of the Year award, Sun is the current all-time program leader in slugging percentage (.723) and batting average (.412). With her grand slam against Cornell, Sun became just the seventh Crimson in program history to record 100 career RBI.
IVY LEAGUE EXCELLENCE
- Over the last five full seasons, Harvard is one of the top softball programs in the Ivy League, owning a league-best 90-36 record in conference play from 2018 to 2025.
- In that time span, Harvard is the only team in the Ancient Eight to not drop double-digit conference games in a single season.
- Harvard won back-to-back Ivy League regular season titles in 2023 and 2024, as it won the inaugural Ivy League Tournament in Princeton in 2023.
