CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Incoming first-year defenseman
Ryan Healey (4
th Round, Minnesota), and sophomore forward
Zakary Karpa (6
th Round, New York Rangers) were selected in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
A native of Hull, Mass., Healey was selected 121
st overall by the Minnesota Wild. He played for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL during the 2021-22 season and recorded 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) in 59 games. He was selected to the 2022 Biosteel All-American Game and played in the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup with Team USA.
Karpa finished the year with 12 points (six goals, six assists) and was plus-10 in 33 games and was called upon to play big minutes at center for Harvard in 2021-22. A native of Newport Beach, Calif., Karpa helped the Crimson win the 2022 Whitelaw Cup as ECAC Hockey Tournament champions, and earned the team's Donald Angier Hockey Trophy, given annually to the player showing the greatest general improvement during the year. He had his best game at Rensselaer, recording three points (goal, two assists) in a 5-1 road win.
Harvard currently boasts 15 drafted players on its 2022-23 roster, the most in program history.
