CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
Carrie Moore, The
Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach for Harvard Women's Basketball, has been announced as a 2022 inductee into the Western Michigan Athletics Hall of Fame. The first-year Harvard coach is one of four former Bronco student-athletes who will be inducted during a ceremony in October.
Moore is a part of WMU's largest all-female hall-of-fame class in school history, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title XI. Joining Moore in Western Michigan's Class of 2022 are Kathy Beauregard (administration), Nancy Cox (field hockey), Michelle Moore (volleyball) and Kerstin Pahl (women's tennis).
"This moment is a long time coming for me and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this historic Hall of Fame class at Western Michigan" says Moore. "My four years at WMU were transformative for me in many ways and it's so fulfilling to be honored in this way. The commitment to growth and excellence throughout my college experience was intentional and set the bar for everything I've done in my life since. I hope this award inspires our players here at Harvard to bet on themselves and dream big. I can't wait to get back to Kalamazoo to celebrate this achievement with all of my family, teammates, and Bronco fans."
Before embarking on the coaching career that has led her to Harvard, Moore was a standout player at Western Michigan, where she scored a school-record 2,216 points. As a senior in 2006-07, she was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year after leading the nation in scoring at 25.4 points per game, marking the first time a MAC player won the Division I scoring title. In addition to her efforts on the court, which included her setting nine school records and four league records, Moore was a star in the classroom, collecting Academic All-America Second-Team accolades and landing on the nominee list for the Senior CLASS Award. She graduated magna cum laude from WMU in 2007, with a degree in journalism.
Western Michigan's hall-of-fame Induction will take place Friday, Oct. 14, with a special recognition of the inductees during the Broncos' Homecoming football game in Kalamazoo, Mich., on Oct. 15, against Ohio.
