Incoming First-Year Masato Perera Nets USTA National Junior Scholar-Athlete Award

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Incoming Harvard Men's Tennis first-year, Masato Perera, added to his already impressive high school tennis resume by winning the USTA's National Junior Scholar Athlete Award. This award is given yearly to a high school junior or senior nationally ranked in the Top 100 with an unweighted GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale, who demonstrates that tennis is the sport of opportunity for education and advancement and character development. Perera is now the second member of the Crimson to earn this prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Xavier Gonzalez '18. 

Perera, who was ranked as a five-star, blue-chip prospect by the Tennis Recruiting Network, comes to Cambridge with a UTR of 12.13 and hopes to be a key piece on a team that will look to secure back-to-back Ivy League Championships in 2023.
