Boston, Mass. - The Harvard men's and women's track and field teams competed at the UMass Flagship Indoor Invitational, held at the TRACK at New Balance today. Harvard came home with ten first place finishes and 11 other finishers on the podium.
Harvard Highlights
- Two Harvard athletes topped the podium in the women's 200m dash, led by Chloe Fair in 24.39 and followed by Mfoniso Andrew in 24.73.
- Gregory Lapit crossed the line first in the 200m dash, posting a time of 21.28 to jump up to second on the Harvard all-time 200m dash list.
- The Crimson took two of the podium spots in the men's 60m dash, with Jonas Clarke winning in 6.76 and Collin Fullen finishing third in 6.84.
- Anastasia Retsa cleared the highest bar of the day in the pole vault, making it past the 3.95m height. Alana Carroll took third in the event with a clearance of 3.65m.
- Kenneth Ikeji, the current school record holder in the weight throw, beat out the competition by over 1.5 meters, winning with a throw of 21.12m.
- Izzy Goudros was the only jumper of the day to surpass 6 meters in the women's long jump, jumping 6.01m to win the event.
- The Crimson swept the long jump events with Jaeschel Acheampong jumping 7.29m to take first in the men's contest and jump his way into 10th all time in the Harvard record books.
- Sarah Omoregie has started the 2023 season undefeated in the shot put, as she won the second meet of the year with a throw of 16.42m. Estel Valeanu was second in the event with a throw of 13.65m.
- The women's 4x400m relay team of Andrew, Goudros, Tina Martin and Fair took first by eleven seconds at the TRACK at New Balance.
- The men's team had two 4x400m relay teams go 1-2 in the event, with a team of Aaron Shirley, Diebold, Serrano-Wu and Lapit taking home the gold.
- Martin edged out every other collegiate athlete in the women's 60m dash, taking second in 7.54.
- Peter Diebold and Max Serrano-Wu went 2-3 in the men's 500m run. Diebold finished in 1:03.42 with Serrano-Wu finishing in 1:04.11.
- Estel Valeanu and Cammy Garabian got the day started in the women's weight throw where Valeanu took silver with a 18.45m throw and Garabian took bronze with a mark of 18.00m.
- Josefina Biernacki finished third in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.75. Fabiola Balibi was right behind her, fourth in 8.76.
- Riley McDermott landed on the podium in the men's 800m run, finishing third in 1:53.06.
