Cambridge, Mass. - After leading the Harvard Women's Basketball team to defeat the Princeton Tigers,
Carrie Moore, The Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach For Harvard Women's Basketball, was named the ESPN Coach of the Week for the week of January 2nd.
In a packed Lavietes Pavilion, Moore coached and won her first Ivy League game against a familiar opponent, as she served as an assistant coach at Princeton from 2016-2019 and the Tigers' director of operations from 2008-2010. After falling to Princeton 67-72 in the 2022 Ivy League Tournament semifinals, Harvard was eager to rematch the Tigers in the new season and under a new coaching staff. With Saturday's victory, Harvard snapped Princeton's 42-game Ivy League win streak and their seven-game win streak over the Crimson.
Last season, Moore was an assistant for Michigan, which went to the Elite Eight. In April, she took over for Harvard legend Kathy Delaney-Smith, who retired after 40 seasons.
Moore, who is Western Michigan's all-time scoring leader, also spent five seasons as an assistant for Creighton. She is starting a new era for the Crimson, and no better way to begin the Ivy League portion of her tenure than with a win over Harvard's longtime rival.
