Men’s Squash Set to Face Cornell and Columbia in Final Two Ivy Matches

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – This weekend, No. 1 Harvard Men's Squash will hit the road to face their final two Ivy League opponents on Saturday January 28 and Sunday January 29 at 12:00 p.m. on either day.  First, the Crimson will take on No. 8 Cornell and the following day No. 9 Columbia.

What To Know

  • Last weekend, the Crimson picked up a pair of top-three wins, defeating No. 3 Princeton on Saturday and grabbing a comeback victory over No. 2 Penn the next day.  With the two wins, Harvard stays undefeated in the Ivy League and remains atop the college squash rankings.
  • Against Princeton, Harvard won convincingly, grabbing seven wins, including wins at the first five positions on the ladder.
  • Against Penn, the Crimson fell behind 4-3 with the final two matches outstanding.  Pulling off their own individual comebacks, Neel Joshi and Tate Harms battled back in their matches to grab the final two wins for the Crimson and help Harvard remain atop college squash.
  • Marwan Tarek has been dominant the season, starting the year at a perfect 8-0, all wins that have come at the No. 1 position.  Joshi joins Tarek as the only Crimson player still undefeated.  Harms and Crowne join the two as team leaders in wins as the two stand with records of 8-1.
  • The Crimson have been dominant in the all-time series against Cornell as they lead the series 51-2.  Harvard has won the last 12 matches, including downing Cornell, 9-0 last season.
  • Against Columbia, Harvard leads the series 13-1, having won the last five matches.  The last time the two teams met the Crimson defeated the Lions 7-2.
  • With a pair of wins this weekend, the Crimson would clinch the Ivy League crown, a title which they last held in the 2019-20 season.
