Cambridge, Mass. - The Harvard men's and women's track and field teams hosted the HYP meet on Saturday, Jan. 28. Five Harvard athletes broke school records while both the men's and women's teams took second place.
Both the men's and women's team scores resulted in Princeton in first, Harvard in second and Yale in third. On the women's side, Princeton scored 149Â with Harvard in a close second with 127Â and Yale scoring 70. On the men's side, Princeton scored 159Â to win, Harvard was second with 107Â and Yale was third with 70.Â
Harvard Highlights
- Stephanie Ratcliffe started the day with a school record and win in the women's weight throw, throwing 21.84m to beat the previous record by over a meter. Harvard took four of the top five spots in the event with Cammy Garabian in third, Estel Valeanu in fourth and Michaela Denson in fifth.Â
- Kenneth Ikeji finished out the Crimson sweep of the weight throw with another school record, beating his old mark to set the new record at 21.59m, also winning the event.
- Jada Johnson won the women's high jump, beating Princeton and Yale jumpers by clearing 1.68m on her first jump.
- Izzy Goudros set a seasonal best in the long jump of 6.09m to win the event at the HYP meet.
- Harvard went 1-2 in the women's shot put, with Sarah Omoregie throwing a new personal best of 16.64m to win the event followed by Valeanu with a new personal best of 15.04m that jumps to third on the all-time Crimson record board.
- Alexander Kolesnikoff broke his shot put record for the second week in a row, setting the new mark at 19.83m.Â
- Daniel Falode set a new personal best and jumped up to number three in the record book in the triple jump with a 15.75m jump to win the meet.Â
- Samuel Bennett broke the school record in the 60m hurdles, with a come-from-behind victory in 7.84.
- Victoria Bossong set a new personal best in the 500m dash and won the race by three seconds with a time of 1:11.96.
- Goudros secured a second win in the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.55.
- Maia Ramsden claimed another school record for herself with the win in the 1000m run. She set the new time to beat at 2:43.03.
- In a photo finish, Graham Blanks won the men's 1000m run by a margin of .13 seconds, jumping up to number two in the record book with a 2:23.16.
- Mfoniso Andrew ran one blazing lap to win the women's 200m dash in 24.60.
- The women's 4x400m relay team of Chloe Fair, Bossong, Andrew and Jacklynn Okereke finished the night with a win in 3:43.56.
