CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Crimson sailing team had a successful weekend on the water, defending their title with a win at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship (ACC) and taking fifth at the Yale Women's Regatta and the Oberg Trophy.
Open Atlantic Coast Championship
The Harvard team finished first of 18 teams for the second year in a row at the Open ACC with 179 points. The Crimson had finished first at the qualifier and proved they were the dominant team at the championship as well, holding strong in first place from races five to 14 through the weekend. Lachlain McGranahan with crew
Marbella Marlo and
Matthew Cabot finished fourth with 100 points in a tight top-five, as Brown won the division with 89 points. In the B Division, skipper
Justin Callahan with crew
Kennedy Leehealey and
Aidan Pesce finished first with 79 points. The won the first race of the weekend and did not drop out of first from there, going on to finish in the top three in eight of 14 races.
Yale Women's Regatta
The Harvard women's team finished fifth of 18 teams in New Haven, scoring 168 points. In the A Division,
Cordelia Burn and
Margo Silliman finished eighth, holding strong in the middle of the pack throughout the day with three fifth place finishes in races. In the B Division,
Sarah Burn and
Lily Bartlett finished second with 68 points, just seven points off first-place Yale, who had 61. The pair consistently finished between second and sixth throughout the day to contribute to Harvard's total.
Oberg Trophy
In a three-division regatta on the Charles River, Harvard finished in fifth of 17 teams with efforts from seven Crimson student-athletes. Skipper
Robby Meek with crew Christina Chen and JJ Drummond won the A Division with 58 points, taking first place in five of their 14 races. In the B Division,
Zoey Ziskind and
Kate Downey finished first by just two points, beating out Yale 61-63 for the top two spots. The two teams were tied after race 13 but Harvard's win in the final race of the day put them on top of the Bulldogs for the division win. In the C Division,
Olivia Hogan-Lopez and Peyton Hadfield finished 12th with 171 points.
