PRINCETON, NJ – In the final day of the ITA Northeast Super Regionals Harvard men's tennis sat atop both draws, claiming the singles and doubles championships.
To open the day,
Daniel Milavsky and
Cooper Williams bested the three-seed Paul Inchauspe and Top Nidunjianzan (Princeton) to win their eighth straight match. Taking down the Princeton duo in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, Milavsky and Williams claimed the ITA Northeast Super Regionals doubles title. In the duo's short tenure together, they have already racked up 13 victories, an ITA All-American main draw consolation championship, and now the super regionals crown.
With more play ahead of him, Williams went to work looking for another championship in the singles draw. In order to have the opportunity to take home more hardware, the Crimson first-year first encountered last year's super regionals champion, the No. 15 nationally ranked player, Michael Zheng (Columbia). After dropping a tight first set, 5-7, Williams powered to a 6-2 second set win and ultimately punched his ticket to the finals with a 6-4 final set.
To sweep the championships at this year super regionals, Williams downed the two-seed Radu Papoe (Cornell) in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. Ultimately, the New York City native won nine doubles and singles matches total throughout the tournament, including a 3-0 final day.
