CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's swimming and diving begins its 2023-24 campaign on Friday when it welcomes Brown to Blodgett Pool. The 4 p.m. ET Ivy League opener will air live on ESPN+.
What to Know
- The Crimson opens its first season under Amanda Kulik, The Costin Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Swimming & Diving. The longtime assistant coach spent 10 seasons on the staff of Stephanie Wriede Morawski '92, who decided to leave coaching after 26 seasons in July 2023.
- Harvard is coming off a 2022-23 season in which it posted a 6-2 dual-meet record (5-2 Ivy) and finished in second place at the Ivy League Championships. The Crimson also sent three divers to the NCAA Championships, marking the 11th straight year Harvard has had at least one competitor advance to the national meet.
- The Crimson has won two season openers in a row, defeating Rutgers both times. Against unranked foes, meanwhile, Harvard has emerged victorious in seven straight lidlifters. The one blemish occurred in the 2019-20 opener when the Crimson fell to No. 17 Duke.
- Harvard leads the all-time series with Brown, 36-9, and has won 20 straight vs. the Bears. Last season, the Crimson earned a 186-113 decision in Providence, Rhode Island.
- The Harvard-Brown contest is also doubling as the Crimson's Breast Cancer Awareness Meet. Fans will have the opportunity donate to ESSCO MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund and the Harvard chapter of Camp Kesem, a nationwide community, driven by over 5,700 passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent's cancer.
- The Crimson's home meet is one of two scheduled for this season, with its last appearance set for Nov. 11, when Dartmouth and Cornell visit on Senior Day.
