CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's squash, the four-time defending national champions, opened their 2023-24 season this afternoon in the Murr Center against Brown. The Crimson began its season strong, sweeping the Bears 9-0.
The Crimson got out to hot start to begin the day with
Jacob Lin,
Tate Harms, and
Neel Joshi each winning their matches within minutes of each other. Shortly after,
David Costales won his match at the No. 1 position 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-7) to put the Crimson within a win of clinching.
Ultimately
Omar Azzam, in his first collegiate match, clinched the win for the Crimson by picking up the teams fifth win at the No. 5 position with four matches outstanding.
Harvard was victorious in the final four matches of the day to complete the sweep over the Brown Bears.
Marcus Lee,
Denis Gilevskiy,
Zach Baskir, and
Ido Burstein each joined in picking up their first wins of the season.

- The Crimson were perfect on the day as each player on the ladder swept their Brown opponent, 3-0.
- First-year Azzam picked up his first collegiate win, clinched the match, and dropped the least number of points of any Crimson player all in his 3-0 (11-2, 11-0, 11-4) victory.
- Lin, Lee, and Baskir each joined Azzam in securing their first collegiate wins today.
- With the win, Harvard remains perfect against Brown in the all-time series, improving to 33-0 over the Bears.
