Women’s Ice Hockey to Battle No. 4 Minnesota, St. Thomas at D1 in DC Tournament

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Harvard women's ice hockey is heading to the nation's capital for the Thanksgiving Break, where it will battle a pair of teams from the North Star State at the D1 in DC Tournament. The Crimson (1-9-1, 0-8-1 ECACH) is set to take on the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-2-0, 7-2-0 WCHA) and the University of St. Thomas Tommies (5-10-0, 0-10-0 WCHA) on the ice at the MedStar Capitals Ice Plex, the practice facility of the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • This will be the 21st time the Gophers and the Crimson square off in series history. The last two matchups came in 2019-20 at the Country Classic in Nashville and in 2014-15 in the National Championship game.
  • Harvard and St. Thomas will play their first ever matchup on Saturday afternoon.
  • Both games this weekend will take place at the MedStar Capitals Ice Plex in Arlington, Virginia.
  • Harvard enters the contest with a 1-1 record in nonconference play this season. The Crimson split a series with regional Hockey East foes Boston U. and New Hampshire, getting a win over the Terriers before dropping a contest to the Wildcats.
  • The Crimson is coming off the narrow 3-0 loss to UNH this past Tuesday. The team created a number of solid looks in the contest but couldn't get the shots to fall in the effort.
  • Senior captain Shannon Hollands holds the team lead in points with six this season.
  • The Crimson's victory over the Terriers (Nov. 14) was fueled by two-point nights from Gabi Davidson Adams and Kayley Crawford.
  • The Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Ice Hockey, Laura Bellamy, notched her first career win after the victory over the Terriers.
  • Crawford's goal and assist gave her a career-best two-point outing.
  • Davidson Adams became the team's leading scorer with her third goal of the season against BU.
  • Kaley MacDonald tallied her second goal in three games against the Terriers and now owns three points on the season.
  • Mia Biotti leads the defensive core with four points this season.
  • First-year Zoe Boosamra has transitioned well to the collegiate game, collecting five points in ten games this season. The Quebec native is on an active two-game point streak after beginning the season on a three-game point run.
  • Junior goaltender, Alex Pellicci, had one of her best outings of the season against the Terriers, posting 30 saves while allowing only one goal to boost the Crimson to the win.

UP NEXT

Harvard will return to the Bright-Landry Hockey Center next week for its final series of the first half of the season against the St. Lawrence Saints and the Clarkson Golden Knights. The Crimson will battle its ECAC foes this upcoming Friday and Saturday at home and on ESPN+.
