CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's squash will begin its 2023-24 season this weekend with a pair of matches against Dartmouth and Virginia. The Crimson will first take on the Big Green at the Murr Center Squash Courts on Wednesday (Nov. 29) before traveling South to Charlottesville to battle the Cavaliers on Saturday (Dec. 2). Match times with Dartmouth and UVA are set for 5:00 PM and 12:00 PM, respectively.
WHAT TO KNOW
- The Crimson open the campaign ranked No. 1 in the College Squash Association Preseason Team Rankings. A year ago, Harvard went 14-1 overall and 6-0 in the Ivy League before raising its eighth straight Howe Cup.
- Harvard had its 102-match winning streak stopped last season, but immediately started another and enters the opener having won 10 straight.
- The Crimson owns a 53-3 lead in the all-time series against Dartmouth, which dates back to 1975.
- Harvard has outscored Dartmouth 42-3 in the past five matchups.
- Dartmouth has yet to compete this season and sits at no. 11 in the CSA Team Rankings.
- Virginia and Harvard have only met once in series history, an 8-1 win for Harvard a year ago.
- This will be the Crimson's first trip to Charlottesville in program history.
- The Cavaliers currently sit at no. 7 in the nation, compiling a record of 5-2 so far in 2023-24.
- Returning for 2023-24 are a pair of first-team All-Americans in senior Marina Stefanoni and sophomore Saran Gregory-Nghiem, and two second-team All-Americans in senior Serena Daniel and junior Habiba Eldafrawy. Stefanoni recently competed in the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile, where she fell in the semifinals of the singles tournament to former Crimson standout Amanda Sobhy '15.

The Crimson will take a brief pause for finals and the holidays before returning for the 2024 portion of its match schedule. Harvard will play nine matches in January and February, kicking off the run with a tilt against the Stanford Cardinal on Jan. 12.
