CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 20 Harvard men's ice hockey travels to Colgate and Cornell this weekend for its first road doubleheader. Harvard will face the reigning ECAC champions on Friday night with puck drop slated for 7:00 p.m. Harvard then sets off to Ithaca for a matchup with No. 7 Cornell. The Ivy battle from Lynah will begin at 7:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
WHAT TO KNOW
HITTING THE ROAD
- Harvard sets off for its first doubleheader on the road this season with a trip to upstate New York to take on Colgate and No. 7 Cornell. The Crimson went 4-2 against the pair last season including playoffs.
- Over the last six completed seasons, The Crimson is 3-3 when visiting the Class of 1956 arena. While Harvard has not lost to Cornell dating back to Dec. 6, 2019.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
- Harvard opens the trip with reigning ECAC Champions Colgate Raiders on Friday night. Currently sitting at 3-4-1 to begin 2023-24, Colgate has defeated Sacred Heart and Yale to begin their campaign. Starting their conference schedule last weekend, the Raiders skated to a 3-2 loss to Brown before beating Yale by a score of 7-1. Ross Mitton returns for the reigning champs this season and currently leads the team in points with 4-3-7 in six games this season. Goaltender Carter Gylander is also back for another year between the pipes and is posting a 2.43 GAA after 7 games.
- The Crimson then make the trip to Ithaca to face off against Ivy rival Cornell at the historic Lynah Rink. Cornell currently sits at No. 7 in the country and is 4-0-0 and undefeated in both non-conference and conference play. The Big Red opened its season with two wins over No. 11 Minnesota Duluth while outscoring the Bulldogs 7-1 in the two games. Cornell followed that up with trips to Yale and Brown where they cruised to victories over the two conference opponents. Hitting the road for the first time of the year, Cornell defeated Yale 3-1 before beating Brown 7-1 to begin 23-24 conference play. Goaltender Ian Shane recently won ECAC goaltender of the month and has only allowed three goals in four games this season. Harvard has won six consecutive matchups against the Big Red including last season's ECAC semi-final win in overtime. Harvard has not lost dating back to Dec. 6, 2019.

- Ted Donato currently sits at 298 career wins as he looks to break the 300-win mark in the 2023-24 season.
ON THE ROAD
- Since 2018-2019, Harvard has a winning record away from Cambridge after posting a 27-18-7 in road matchups.
JOE MILLER NETS HIS FIRST
- Miller scored his first two goals of the season against Princeton including the game-tying goal late in the third period. Miller added his first of the season on a power-play strike to give Harvard a first-period lead. Millers' first-period goal was the first for the Crimson this season on the power play.
FROM THE BLUE LINE
- Sophomore defenseman Ryan Healey has three points in three games this year after adding an assist on the Severo goal against Dartmouth while also adding a pair of helpers against Princeton the following weekend. Healey's 1.00 PPG is good for 11th among defensemen in the nation and second in the ECAC.
THE NEW GUYS
- Ryan Fine netted his first career goal in the first period against Princeton last weekend. Off an assist from fellow rookie, Ben MacDonald, Fine was able to get a piece of a saucer pass for his first collegiate goal. MacDonald would add another assist later in the game for his second point of the night.
- Cam Johnson added another assist last weekend after making a great move towards the net. Johnson fired a shot that Marek Hejduk was able to corral to score the third goal of the game for Harvard.
- Out of the 15 total points scored to date this season – first years have added five of them.
PK UNIT
- The PK unit was tested in the first game of the season after having to kill back-to-back penalties at two different points on Friday. The Crimson unit - backstopped by Mullahy was able to kill off all five Dartmouth power-plays and finish the game a perfect 5/5
- Harvard's PK is nationally ranked at the moment and sits in the top 25 with a success rate of 84.6%.
NEXT UP
Harvard has a bye week before returning to action over Thanksgiving break. The Crimson will take on Boston College on Black Friday and UMass on Sunday.
