LAS VEGAS, NV. – Harvard wrestling concluded its time at the Las Vegas Invitational this weekend. 125-pound wrestler Diego Sotelo advanced the furthest among Crimson student-athletes at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, making it to the second phase of the round eight in the consolation bracket.
 
WHAT TO KNOW:

• A pair of Harvard wrestlers advanced to the Championship Round of 16.
• Sotelo and 141-pound wrestler Jaden Pepe each won their opening matchups in Las Vegas.
• Sotelo would drop a narrow 3-2 decision to Cornell in the Championship round of 16, as No. 3 seed Ohio State defeated Pepe by fall in the 141-pound bracket.
• In the 133-pound consolation bracket round of 16, a pair of takedowns lifted first-year Jameson Garcia past No. 7 seed Utah Valley in a 7-1 decision victory.
• Joseph Cangro advanced in the consolation bracket with a 9-8 decision win against Navy.
• In a narrow contest against Morgan State in the round of 16 of the consolation bracket, 174-pound wrestler Luke Rada secured an 8-5 decision victory with a takedown in the third period.
• 197-pound wrestler Daniel Bittner picked up a win in the consolation bracket round of 16, defeating Cal. State Bakersfield via a 5-3 decision.
• Sotelo advanced to the consolation round of eight with a 5-3 decision win against Hofstra. In the first phase of the round of eight, Sotelo defeated NC State 11-6 via decision.
• Purdue would stop Sotelo by an 8-5 decision win in the second phase of the round of eight in the consolation bracket.
