CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Football seniors
Thor Griffith and
Tyler Neville have been named to the 2023 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team. The duo earned second-team accolades for their accomplishments during the 2023 campaign.
With its two All-Americans, this marks the second straight season in which a Harvard football player has been named to the AFCA All-America squad, a feat not accomplished since 2012 and 2013. Last year, defensive lineman
Truman Jones collected second-team honors.
Griffith and Neville are the ninth and 10
th Crimson players to earn AFCA All-America status. Additionally, this represents the first time Harvard has had multiple AFCA All-Americans in a single season in program history.
A defensive lineman out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Griffith finished his final campaign with 55 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks despite routinely facing double teams. Griffith has accumulated several All-America honors in 2023, landing on the FCS Football Central second team, Stats Perform third team and Phil Steele fourth team.
Neville, meanwhile, collected his first All-America award after leading the Crimson with four receiving touchdowns this past season. The All-Ivy League First-Team tight end started all 10 games, catching 24 passes for 283 yards, while helping block for running back
Shane McLaughlin, who was the Ivy League rushing champion.
The Harvard All-America duo helped the Crimson post an 8-2 overall record in 2023 and capture the program's 18
th Ivy League title.
