Women's Squash

No. 1 Women’s Squash Sweeps No. 7 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Harvard women's squash improved to 2-0 on the season with a road win over the seventh-ranked Virginia Cavaliers. The Crimson swept the Cavaliers on their home courts to pick up its second win of the campaign and head into the holiday break with an unblemished record.
 
Serena Daniela and Amira Singh were the first to put Harvard on the scoreboard, posting wins at the fifth and ninth parings, respectively. Daniel swept her opponent, battling to a win in the first game before securing 11-7 and 11-6 game wins to clinch the victory. Singh posted a 3-1 victory to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
 
After falling behind two games to one in her matchup at the top of the ladder, Marina Stefanoni rallied back to secure a win at the first pairing and give Harvard a 3-0 lead. Stefanoni powered past her opponent 11-8 and 11-1 in the final two games to remain unbeaten on the season.
 
The first-year duo of Lucie Stefanoni and Ella Galova helped Harvard clinch the match with wins at the fourth and seventh pairings, respectively. Lucie won her match 3-0 while outscoring her opponent 33-15 and Galova matched her classmate with a 3-0 win.
 
Molly Stoltz was the next player on the scoreboard with a 3-1 win at the eighth pairing. Stoltz battled back from a close first game loss, rattling off three straight game wins to seal the win. Habiba Eldafrawy hung on to win a close 3-2 battle in her match at the second pairing, finishing out the win with a 12-10 victory in the fifth game.
 
Brecon Welch and Saran Gregory-Nghiem closed out the match for Harvard with 3-1 and 3-0 wins respectively.
 

UP NEXT

Harvard women's squash will now break for finals and the holidays before returning to action on Friday, Jan. 12 to take on the Stanford Cardinal. The match with the West Coast foe is set for 1:00 PM at the Murr Center Squash Courts.
