CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Fourth-ranked Harvard Women's Fencing travels to Ithaca, New York to compete at the Ivy League Fencing Round-Robins, Saturday, Feb. 11 – Sunday, Feb. 12. The competition is being hosted by Cornell University.
The Crimson will compete in three matches on Saturday with another three occurring on Sunday.
Harvard has won the Ivy League four times in team history with the last time coming in 2016. Last year, Harvard finished second in the Ivy.
The Crimson will begin the competition on Saturday against Yale at 2:30 p.m. Harvard comes into the matchup having won 17 in a row against the Bulldogs.
Harvard will then face off against Brown at 3:45 p.m. The Crimson is 30-4 all-time against the Bears and have won the last 13 matchups.
After a third-round bye, Harvard will take on the hosts, Cornell, at 6:30 p.m., to conclude day one of the event. Harvard leads the all-time series with the Big Red, 31-9, and has won the last 26 meetings.
The Crimson will start day two of the Ivy League Championships against Princeton at 12:15 p.m. The Crimson trail in the all-time series against the Tigers 14-24.
Harvard will proceed to face Columbia at 1:45 p.m. This will be the Crimson's and the Lions' second matchup this season. The Crimson trail in the all-time series against the Lions 10-42.
Harvard will wrap up the tournament by facing off against Penn at 3:15 p.m. The Crimson trail in the all-time series against the Quakers 18-24.
What to Know
- This weekend, Lauren Scruggs (foil) and Elizabeth Tartakovsky (sabre) will be competing internationally to continue their qualifications for the 2023 senior world team and 2024 Olympic team. Scruggs will be competing in Turin, Italy and Tartakovsky will be competing in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
- Harvard was recently ranked No. 4 in the country in the USFCA Women's Fencing Mid-Season Coaches Poll. Princeton and Columbia, meanwhile, were No. 2 and 3, respectively.
- Annora Lee (foil) leads the team with 39 wins this season.
- The Crimson is coming off a 18-9 win against NYU on Jan. 28.
