CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Volleyball, which has spent the past two weeks on the road, will welcome St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU to Malkin Athletic Center this week. The Crimson (4-8) and Terriers (5-6) will clash on Friday at 7 p.m. ET before the Sharks (6-6) visit Cambridge for a 5 p.m. ET contest on Saturday. Both matches will air on ESPN+.
What to Know
- Harvard is looking to snap a four-match skid after it dropped a pair of tough 3-1 decisions at Princeton.
- In both of its matches against the Tigers, Harvard split the first two sets against the hosts, but fell short in the pivotal third set, 26-24. The Crimson, ultimately, was unable to recover in each of the fourth sets as it remained winless in EIVA action.
- First-year Zach Berty led the Crimson in kills, registering 10 in both of Harvard's outings at Princeton. The outside hitter also added a team-high four aces, seven digs and five blocks.
- Berty finds himself ranked ninth in NCAA Division I in aces per set (0.537) and leads a Harvard team that is 22nd nationally in the same category (1.48).
- Junior Ethan Smith enjoyed a solid weekend in The Garden State, recording 17 kills, while hitting .467, and a team-best 11 blocks.
- The Crimson will look to continue its run of success against St. Francis Brooklyn, having won all three get-togethers. Harvard defeated the Terriers, 3-1, in 2020 (home) and the first meeting of '22 (home), before earning a sweep in the second match of 2022 (away).
- St. Francis heads to Cambridge having split a pair of matches last week, sweeping D'Youville on the road and suffering a sweep at Daemen.
- Harvard will be in search of its first series win over LIU on Saturday. The Crimson have lost all three contests, which took place in the 1990s (1992, 1995, 1996; all 3-1 defeats).
- The Sharks spent last week in the nation's 50th state where they faced top-ranked Hawai'i. LIU lost both matches by 3-0 margins.
