Storrs, Conn. - The Crimson competed at the UConn Northeast Challenge on Saturday, where school and conference records in the multi events were broken and Harvard athletes brought home eight event wins.
Harvard Highlights
- With a score of 5769, Izzy Goudros has once again broken her own Crimson record and set a new Ivy League record in the event. She finished the multi event on Saturday placing first in the three remaining events in the heptathlon: the long jump, javelin and 800m run. Her score also moves up to third in the nation at this point in the outdoor season.
- With Goudros claiming the Ivy League heptathlon record, Harvard now holds half (11 of 22) of the women's outdoor Ivy League records. With the exception of three of these records, all eleven marks have been set since 2016.
- John Minicus broke the Harvard record and moved up four places in the second day of competition in the decathlon, placing second with a score of 6878. In today's five events, he placed second in two events (the discus and javelin throws) and third in two events (110m hurdles and pole vault). His score now sits at the top of the Harvard all-time list.
- Jada Johnson took second behind Goudros in the heptathlon, scoring 5230 to move up to fifth in Harvard history.
- The men's 4x100m relay team of Cam Henry, Lance Ward, Jaeschel Acheampong and Reuben Henry-Daire took first with a time of 40.23, second in the Harvard record book only behind the Crimson's 40.19 record earlier this year.
- Victoria Bossong won the 400m dash with a time of 53.80, just .17 off her personal best that ranks second all-time at Harvard.
- Adaji Osaro-Igwe won the 200m dash with a time of 23.71, just a few hundredths of a second off of Goudros' time earlier in the day to move to the number three spot in the Crimson record books.
- Lance Ward completed Harvard's sweep of the 200m dash races, running 20.65, the second fastest ever run by a Harvard athlete.
- The women's 4x400m relay team of Bossong, Mfoniso Andrew, Jacklynn Okereke and Tina Martin finished the women's events with a win in 3:40.30.
- After winning the discus yesterday, Estel Valeanu took the gold in the shot put with a throw of 15.29m (50' 2").
- Kenneth Ikeji kept his streak of hammer throw wins alive by out-throwing the competition by over 20 feet with a 69.58m (228' 3") toss.
- Crimson runners Peter Fischer (52.11) and Ondrej Vesely (52.36) placed second and third in the 400m hurdles to move to eighth and tenth in Harvard's record books.
- The women's 4x100m relay took second at the meet with a time of 45.20. Adaji Osaro-Igwe, Mfoniso Andrew, Egbe Ndip-Agbor and Chrystal Aluya ran fast enough to post the fourth best time in Harvard history.
- In the women's hammer throw, Cammy Garabian and Cara Salsberry placed second and third, respectively with throws of 62.07 and 59.79 meters.
