CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard women's ice hockey team has elected its leaders for the 2023-24 season. Senior
Shannon Hollands and Junior
Alex Pellicci were elected by their peers to lead the team next season.
"It is a true honor to be selected a captain of this team for the 2023-24 season and I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to represent and lead our team" said Hollands. "I am grateful for the lessons I have learned from my former captains and teammates and I look forward to continuing the success and excellence of this program with my co-captain,
Alex Pellicci and the rest of our group."
Hollands, a senior center, heads in to her final year in Crimson after a career-best 14 point season in 2022-23. The forward had a remarkable second half of the season that featured ten points in 15 games, including a four-game point streak and her first career multi-goal game in the Beanpot matchup against the Boston University Terriers (Feb. 14). A psychology concentrator, Hollands has dressed in 87 games in three seasons with the Crimson.
"I am beyond excited and humbled to be named captain for this amazing program and group of women," said Pellicci. "Each perosn on this team brings something special to the table and I am excited to see what next season brings!"
After a record-setting season, Pellicci was elected as one of the two team captains making her the first junior to fill the role since Kate Hallett '19 in 2017-18. A rising junior and economics concentrator, Pellicci started all but one game for the Crimson in goal during the 2022-23 season, making the most single-season saves for a goaltender in team history. The Minnesota native also posted three shutout victories on the season and made 40-plus saves in ten contests.
The Harvard women's ice hockey team has already begun its preparation for the 2023-24 campaign and will look to recapture the ECAC and Ivy League crowns when the season begins next October.
