Cambridge, Mass. - Harvard athletes competed at two meets on Saturday in the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, La. and the Sean Collier Invite hosted by MIT in Cambridge. The day was highlighted by Kenneth Ikeji improving his school record in the hammer throw and moving up on the national list.
LSU Alumni Gold Highlights
- Kenneth Ikeji continues to improve and break records in the hammer throw, setting yet another school record with a throw of 73.24 meters (240' 3") to win the meet and move up one spot to fourth in the nation. His throw also broke the facility record at LSU by one centimeter.
- Stephanie Ratcliffe is no stranger to winning the hammer throw as well, as she tossed a 69.50m (228') throw to win in Louisiana. Cara Salsberry took third with a 57.19m (187' 7") throw that is fifth in the Harvard record books.
- Sarah Omoregie was the third Crimson thrower to claim a first place spot at LSU, throwing 16.83m (55' 2.75") in the shot put. She was followed by Estel Valeanu, who took second with a throw of 16.01m (52' 6.5").
- Valeanu threw 56.36m (184' 11") in the discus to score another win in her signature event at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. Her throw was a new personal best and moves her current second-place all-time mark closer to the school record as she sits second in the Crimson record books.
- With a far throw of 19.81m (65') in the shot put, Alexander Kolesnikoff remains undefeated in the event and takes home another gold medal.
- Victoria Bossong set a new personal record in 2:06.53 to win the 800m run in the bayou state and move up to third in the Crimson record books.
- The men's 4x100m relay team of Cam Henry, Lance Ward, Jaeschel Acheampong and Jonas Clarke tied their school record of 40.19 to take sixth at LSU.
- The women's 4x400m relay of Bossong, Izzy Goudros, Tina Martin and Chloe Fair took home a silver medal at LSU with a time of 3:34.64. This time is third all time at Harvard.
Sean Collier Invite Highlights
- Maya Rayle placed first in the 1500m run, running a time of 4:34.79. She was followed by Annelies Quinton who finished third in 4:46.28.
- Michaela Denson won the women's discus at MIT with a throw of 48.32 meters (158' 6"). Her throw is now fifth all-time at Harvard.
- Eros Bottino took second in the men's discus with a throw of 48.46m (159').
- Noah Miles jumped 12.84m (42' 1.5") to claim a silver medal in the triple jump for the Crimson.
- Julius Ewungkem stepped onto the podium in the men's long jump, taking third with a 6.53m (21' 5.25") jump.
- Jeremiah Swett brought home a bronze in the javelin throw with a throw of 44.59m (146' 3").
