NEW YORK - Angela Ruggiero '04 continues to make waves in the hockey world as she was recently announced as the new Operations Advisor of the New York Rangers. The four-time Olympic medalist and 2004 Patty Kazmaier Award recipient was among a handful of additions to the Rangers front office last week. One of the most decorated players in the game of women's ice hockey will now take on a new challenge in the National Hockey League.Â
Ruggiero skated with the Crimson women's ice hockey program for four seasons and helped her team compile a combined 114-13-5 record in those years. The defensewomen is still ranked in the top 10 in career points (6th - 253) and goals (5th - 96) and assists (3rd - 157).
Ruggiero was inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015, and IIHF Hall of Fame in 2017 after skating 15-plus years (1996-2011) with the U.S. Women's National Team. In her time with the national team, she helped the U.S. claim the first-ever gold medal awarded in women's ice hockey in the Olympic Winter Games in 1998 as the youngest member of the team and went on to win three other Olympic medals (silver-2002, 2010; bronze-2006).
Since hanging up her skates, Ruggiero has worked in a number of different roles, most recently as the co-founder and CEO of the Sports Innovation Lab, a leading technology-powered market research firm that empowers industry-leading sports brands to identify the trends, products and services that will fuel the future of sports.
