MEMPHIS, TN – No. 11 Harvard men's tennis dropped their 2024 season opener tonight, falling to Memphis, 2-4.
The Crimson began the day by winning the No. 3 doubles match courtesy of
Ronan Jachuck and
Masato Perera. As the duo teamed up for the first time this season, they cruised to a 6-1 victory over Maxime Dubouch and Pau Fanlo (Memphis).
Despite pushing the matches at the No. 1 and 2 positions to 7-6 and 7-5 results, respectively, the Crimson were not able to capitalize, ultimately dropping the doubles point.
Moving into singles play, the Crimson pulled into the lead following a pair of straight set wins from
Daniel Milavsky and
Ronan Jachuck. First, Milavsky looked strong against the No. 80 nationally ranked player, Pau Fanlo (Memphis), winning 6-1, 6-4. Jachuck followed, picking up the final Crimson win of the day with a 7-5, 6-1 defeat of Harry Rock (Memphis) at the No. 4 position.
Despite pushing the final two outstanding matches to third sets, Harvard ultimately dropped the battle to the Tigers, 2-4.
