Men’s Tennis Hosts No. 21 NC State and Bryant in Home Opener Double-Header

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  – Harvard Men's Tennis will return to Cambridge, Mass. for the first time in 2024 as they host a double-header inside the Murr Center.  The Crimson will open the day by facing its first ranked opponent in No. 21 NC State at 12:00 p.m.  Play will continue later that day at 4:00 p.m. against Bryant.    

What to Know

  • The Crimson opened its 2024 spring season on Wednesday, January 17 by dropping a battle to Memphis, 2-4. 
  • Against the Tigers Daniel Milavsky and Ronan Jachuck picked up their first wins of the spring season with strong straight set victories.
  • Milavsky posted a convincing 6-1, 6-4 win at the No. 3 position, taking down the No. 80 nationally ranked singles player in Pau Fanlo (Memphis). 
  • Throughout the fall and the Crimson first match of the dual season, it has picked up 65 singles wins and 33 doubles victories. 
  • Prior to the start of the 2024 year, Harvard earned their highest ITA preseason ranking in program history, checking in at No. 10. 
  • Harvard received three nods in the final ITA Men's Division I Singles and Doubles Rankings of the fall season with Daniel Milavsky and Cooper Williams checking in at No. 5 in the doubles poll and Williams and Marc Ktiri earning No. 15 and 111, respectively, in the singles rankings.
  • The Crimson are 2-0 all-time against NC State including defeating them, 4-3 in its season opener last year.  Harvard will look to give the Wolf Pack their first loss of the season as they began by defeating Northwestern and Princeton last week. 
  • Harvard has never lost to Bryant as they currently hold a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series.  Most recently, the Crimson defeated the Bulldogs, 4-0, when the two teams squared off in 2020.

Next Up

Harvard will stay home to host the ITA Kick-Off Weekend as they welcome three teams to Cambridge, Mass. to battle for a spot in the ITA Fall Nationals.  The Crimson will first face UCLA at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27.  With a win, Harvard would face either Ole Miss or Northwestern on Sunday, January 28.
