PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard men's squash fell to the fourth-ranked Princeton Tigers this afternoon after a competitive match on the courts at Jadwin Gymnasium. The fourth-ranked Crimson (6-2, 3-1 Ivy) fell to the Tigers by a score of 6-3, snapping its 11-match winning streak against its Ivy foe.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crimson made the trip to Princeton this weekend to take on the Tigers at Jadwin Gymnasium in a meeting of the third and fourth ranked team in the nation.
- Princeton jumped out to a 2-0 lead after taking the points at the second and fifth pairings. Omar Azzam and Denis Gilevskiy both fell in 0-3 matches.
- Jacob Lin got back in the win column with a victory at the seven spot, winning 3-0 (11-7, 12-10, 11-6) to get the Crimson on the board.
- Senior captain, Ido Burstein, was narrowly defeated at the no. 3 position in a back-and-forth 2-3 loss. Burstein held a 2-0 advantage but could not hold off his opponent in the close match.
- The Tigers went on to clinch the match with wins at the eight and nine positions on the ladder. Neel Joshi and Ishant Shah dropped 1-3 and 0-3 matches, respectively in their pairings.
- Liam Rotzoll had his opponent on the ropes in his match at the six spot, but not could close out the match, eventually falling in a 2-3 loss. Rotzoll was unable to recover from an 0-2 deficit that included a loss in an 18-20 tiebreak during the second game.
- David Costales earned the win from the one spot, coming out victorious in a 3-2 match. Costales and his Princeton foe were heading into the fifth game tied at 2-2 before his opponent was forced to retire.
- Tate Harms closed out the match for Harvrad with a 3-1 win at the fourth position, remaining undefeated in individual action.
