CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's squash closes out its first semester this week with a pair of matches against top ten opponents. First, the Crimson (2-0, 0-0 Ivy) will battle the Big Green (1-1, 0-0 Ivy) in its first match of Ivy League play before heading to Charlottesville to battle No. 4 Virginia (6-1) on the road. Harvard hopes to continue its strong play when its battles two of the nation's best teams this week.
The Matchup
Harvard will open Ivy League play this week with a Tuesday match against No. 9 Dartmouth before traveling South to take on No. 4 Virginia. The match against the Big Green will be the Crimson's first match of its Ivy League season and the match against the No. 4 Cavaliers will be Harvard's first match against a top-five team in its campaign.
Starting Strong
The Crimson men's squash team enters the contest with a 2-0 record after defeating No. 18 Western Ontario and No. 13 MIT in its first two matches of the season. Harvard dropped Western Ontario, 9-0, in the first match of the season up in Canada before defeating Cambridge-rival MIT, 8-1, just three days later.
Series History
A frequent opponent, Harvard and Dartmouth have met on the squash courts 86 times in series history. The Crimson owns an 85-1 advantage in the series history with the only loss coming back in the 2015 season. Harvard currently holds an 11-match winning streak against the foe.
The Cavaliers and the Crimson will clash for the seventh time in series history on Friday. Harvard will be out looking for revenge over the Cavaliers, who defeated the Crimson, 4-5, at the Murr Center last season. Despite the loss, Harvard still owns a 5-1 lead in the series history.
The Captains
Harvard men's squash elected a new leader this season in senior
Denis Gilevskiy, who joins two-year captain
David Costales in the role for the Crimson. The duo will lead the Crimson on and off the courts during the 2025-26 season.
Up Next
These two matches will be the team's last competitions of the semester. The team is set to return to play in mid-January with a pair of matches against Columbia (Jan. 17) and Cornell (Jan. 18) at the Murr Center.
