CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Action at the ITA New England Regionals kicked off this morning in Cambridge as
Kareem Ansari and
James MacDonald represented Harvard men's tennis in the qualifying singles draw.
MacDonald registered two victories to continue on to the regionals main draw. To open the day, the sophomore dropped the 14
th-seeded Cornell foe, Noah Eisenburg, in tiebreakers. After falling 5-7 in the first set, MacDonald took the second set, 6-3, and the tiebreakers, 10-8, to advance in qualifying.
Then, to secure his spot in the main draw, MacDonald defeated Lukas Phimvongsa (Brown) in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.
Nine Crimson student-athletes and five duos will represent Harvard in the singles and doubles main draw beginning tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. ET in the Murr Center and Beren Tennis Center.
