Quick Hits
- After dropping its Ivy League opener at Brown, Harvard has bounced back in resounding fashion, dropping then-No. 16/21 New Hampshire at home, winning at Cornell, and taking down in-state foe Holy Cross, 35-34, last Saturday. With three straight victories, the Crimson finds itself at 4-1, marking the fifth consecutive season it has won at least four times at the midway point of its 10-game schedule.
- Carrying a three-game winning streak into the final game of the month, Harvard is in search of its first perfect October since 2015. During the month, the Crimson has averaged 33.7 points, which is over its season average of 32.8 points, a figure that ranks 24th nationally and second in the Ivy League only to Yale's 33.0.
- Harvard will look to extend its home winning streak to 10 games. The Crimson's nine-game home winning streak is the fourth longest in the FCS nationally, trailing only South Dakota State (24), Florida A&M (21) and Villanova (12).
- In the win over Holy Cross, quarterback Jaden Craig completed a career-high 80-percent of his pass attempts (20-25) for 257 yards and three touchdowns, while also converting a pair of 2-point conversions. The signal caller has seven touchdown passes over his last two outings, making him just one of four QBs with at least that many the last two weeks (Samford's Quincy Crittendon - 8, UC Davis' Miles Hastings, Sacramento State's Carson Conklin - 7).
- Craig enters the Princeton game among the elite quarterbacks in the FCS, ranking among the leaders in several categories. The junior ranks second in passing efficiency (180.8) and passing yards per completion (15.84), third in points responsible for per game (17.6), and fourth in yards per pass attempt (9.93). He also ranks in the top 20 in passing yards per game (19th, 234.4) and total offense (20th, 241.4).
- Craig completed passes to nine receivers vs. the Crusaders with touchdowns going to tight ends Scott Giuliano and Ryan Osborne, and wide receiver Cooper Barkate. A junior from California, Barkate finished with six catches for a team-high 91 yards. Four of Barkate's six catches and 71 of his 91 yards came on the what ended up being the fourth-quarter drive that gave Harvard a lead it would not relinquish.
- Barkate comes into Princeton game ranked sixth in the nation in receiving yards per game (93.0), ninth in receiving TDs (6), 28th in yards per reception (17.88), 30th in receptions per game (5.2), 41st in scoring (7.2) and receiving yards (465), and 45th in total touchdowns (6)
- Safety Ty Bartrum got the scoring going for Harvard with his fumble recovery and subsequent 88-yard return for a touchdown against Holy Cross. It was Harvard's first fumble return for a touchdown since Justin Mitchell returned a fumble 13 yards for the score vs. Brown on Sept. 24, 2021. Bartrum's TD was the second of his career after he opened 2023 with a 96-yard interception return vs. St. Thomas. The junior also led all players with a career-high-tying 13 tackles and was joined in double figures by Austin-Jake Guillory's 12 stops.
