No. 5 Men’s Squash to Open 2024-25 Season This Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 100th season of Harvard Men's Squash is slated to begin this weekend at the Murr Squash Center with a pair of matchups. The Crimson will play host to No. 14 Western Ontario on Saturday (Nov. 16) and No. 10 Tufts on Sunday (Nov. 17) in the group's first two matches of the season.

What to Know 

The 100th Season of Harvard Men's Squash

  • The Crimson men's squash program will begin its 100th season of competition this weekend at the Murr Squash Center.
  • In 99 seasons to date, Harvard owns a 983-210-2 record and boasts a .824 winning percentage all-time.
  • The Gregory Lee '87 and Russell Ball '88 Endowed Coach for Squash at Harvard University, Mike Way, will return to lead the Crimson in his 15th season at the helm of the program. Way owns a 179-34 record in his tenure with Harvard. 

Series History

  • Harvard will open its season with a pair of matches against the Western Ontario Mustangs and the Tufts Jumbos.
  • The Crimson owns a 14-1 advantage in the series against the Mustangs with the last match coming in 2018. Harvard has won 14 straight matches against the Canadian foe dating back to the 1991 season.
  • Tufts will make short trip across Boston to battle Harvard in what will be the 20th match in the series history. The Crimson owns a 19-0 lead in the all-time series that dates back to the 1980 season.
  • Harvard has won the past two meetings against the Jumbos by a score of 8-1.

Key Players Returning to the Crimson

  • Harvard will return 86-percent of its wins to the courts in 2024-25 after graduating two seniors from last year's group.
  • Senior captain, Tate Harms, will return to lead the Crimson after posting a team-high 14 wins a year ago.
  • Denis Gilevskiy (13 wins) and David Costales (nine wins) will also be back in Crimson this season after great campaigns in 2023-24.

Up Next

Harvard will have two weeks to rest and prepare for a pair of challenging matches against Dartmouth (Dec. 4) and Virginia (Dec. 6) in two weeks. The matches will be the final competitions for the Crimson before the finals and holiday breaks.
