CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard men's squash improved its record to 2-0 on the young season this afternoon by earning a 7-2 victory over the No. 10 Tufts Jumbos. The Crimson won six matches in sweeping fashion to start the year with back-to-back wins for the seventh consecutive season.
How it Happened
Harvard men's squash returned to its home courts this afternoon for a match against the No. 10 Tufts Jumbos after defeating No. 14 Western Ontario in its season opener yesterday.
Denis Gilevskiy and
Jacob Lin swept their opponents at two and four, respectively, to lead off the match with a pair of wins for Harvard.
Marcus Lee battled at the eight position but fell in his match to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Crimson.
In the second set of matches,
David Costales and
Segev Rome won both their matches 3-0 at one and five to boost the Crimson lead.
Erik Wang competed at the nine spot for Harvard, putting up a fight in an eventual loss. Harvard came out of the second wave with a 4-2 lead in the match.
Conner Stoltz and
Louis Murray helped clinch the match for Harvard by winning their matches at six and seven, respectively, in straight sets.
Neel Joshi held off a late rally from his opponent at the three spot, coming away with an 11-5 win in the final set to win his pairing 3-2 and close out the match for Harvard.
The Crimson came away with a 7-2 win over its cross-town foe and the 20th consecutive victory over Tufts.
