Women's Squash

No. 1 Women's Squash Posts 7-2 Win Over No. 6 VIrginia

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's squash continued to roll this evening, pushing its record to 3-0 with a 7-2 victory over No. 6 Virginia this evening. The Crimson (3-0, 1-0 Ivy) now heads into the Holiday break with an undefeated record after a top 10 victory tonight at the Murr Squash Center.
 

How it Happened

The Crimson and Virginia met for the fourth time tonight at the Murr Center Squash Courts in a battle of two of College Squash's top 10 teams. Coming off a 9-0 sweep of Dartmouth, Harvard was looking to continue its hot start to the 2024-25 season.
 
The Crimson came out strong in the first wave of matches, quickly picking up three tallies after a series of wins at the third, fourth and seventh pairings. Habiba Eldafrawy flew to a 3-0 win at the three spot while Ocean Ma and Brecon Welch followed suit to add two more wins at the fourth and seventh positions, respectively.
 
Sarita Popat was next in the win column, earning a 3-0 result to boost the Crimson lead to 4-0.  Saran Nghiem took care of business in her match, winning 3-2 at the top of the ladder to clinch the match for the Crimson. After a battle at the sixth position Amira Singh was narrowly defeated, 2-3, after the fifth game finished 12-14 in favor of Virginia.
 
Lucie Stefanoni, Molly Stoltz picked up the final two victories of the night for the Crimson, giving them a total of seven victories in the match. Playing at the two spot, Stefanoni won her match 3-1 and Stoltz breezed to a 3-0 victory at the five postion. Emma Carney fought hard in her match in the eight pairing, but was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 1-3.
