MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving completed the third of four days at the Minnesota Invitational. The Crimson secured a number of NCAA B-standards on the day at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
How It Happened in the Prelims
- Sydney Lu and Mandy Brenner qualified for the 100 fly B-final after finishing 12th (53.66) and 13th overall (53.91), respectively. Blythe Wieclawek (54.91), Kenzie Padilla (55.04) and Isabella Alas (55.47), meanwhile, advanced to the C-final after registering season-best times.
- Alexandra Bastone posted an NCAA B-cut time of 4:14.61 to finish in third and earn a berth to the A-final of the 400 IM. Payton Foster (4:24.00) and Gabriella Augustyn (4:24.68) advanced to the B-final, with Grace Yoon (4:33.80) securing a spot in the C-final.
- In the 200 free prelims, Bastone finished in seventh place (1:47.99) to make the A-final. Making it through to the B-final were Molly Hamlin (1:48.68) and Kaylee McDonald (1:49.42). Padilla and Kristín Helga Hákonardóttir qualified for the C-final with times of 1:51.37 and 1:51.86, respectively.
- Aleksandra Denisenko earned a berth to the A-final of the 100 breast with a prelim time of 1:01.68, which was good for seventh place. On to the B-final were Augustyn (1:02.99) and Stephanie Iannaccone (1:03.17), with Yoon (1:05.44) punching her ticket to the C-final.
- In the final prelim of the session, Anya Mostek qualified for the A-final of the 100 back, posting a time of 53.73. Hamlin (54.51) and Wieclawek (56.62), meanwhile, earned spots in the B- and C-final, respectively.
- Nina Janmyr was the runner-up in the 1-meter diving competition after posting a score of 294.80. Amy Wotovich (281.90) and Remi Edvalson (273.30), meanwhile, came in third and fifth place, respectively.
How It Happened in the Finals
- Lu won the B-final of the 100 fly, finishing in 53.30, ahead of runner-up Ava Yablonski of Minnesota (53.44) and Brenner (53.45). Lu's time was a season-best and another NCAA B-cut. In the C-final, the Crimson went 2-3-4-5 and was led by Wieclawek (54.75), who finished in front of Padilla (54.76), Hákonardóttir (55.51) and Alas (55.64).
- In the A-final of the 400 IM, Bastone recorded another NCAA B-standard time, finishing in fourth place and 4:14.30. Iannaccone also produced a B-cut performance, turning in a time of 4:16.45 (7th). Augustyn (4:23.36) and Foster (4:23.93) finished in sixth and eighth, respectively, in the B-final, and Yoon (4:28.67) was fourth in the C-final. Yoon's time was more than five seconds better than her prelim time.
- Bastone stayed busy, finishing the 200 free A-final in 1:47.26, which was good for sixth place. Hamlin (1:48.87) was the runner-up in the B-final with McDonald coming in sixth place (1:49.97). Hákonardóttir (1:51.69) and Padilla (1:51.74) finished 3-4 in the C-final.
- Denisenko posted a time of 1:01.75 in the A-final of the 100 breast to come in seventh place. Iannaccone (4th, 1:02.62) and Augustyn (5th, 1:02.82) were B-final competitors, while Yoon swam in the C-final and finished in fourth (1:04.79).
- Mostek pocketed an NCAA B-standard time in the A-final of the 100 back, finishing the event in 53.29 and in fourth place. Hamlin recorded a B-final time of 54.88, which was good for fifth, and Wieclawek came in fifth in the C-final (55.99).
- Harvard went 3-4-5 in the 1-meter diving championship, with Janmyr posting a score of 300.60. Edvalson was next up at 289.70 and Wotovich rounded out the top-5 with a 284.65. Miclau also competed and came in seventh place (274.00).
- Mostek, Denisenko, Lu and Brenner guided the Crimson to a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The quartet combined to complete the event in 3:39.25, marking the fastest time of any Harvard relay this season.
