Men’s Tennis Powers Past Louisville, 4-3

LOUISVILLE, KY – No. 8 Harvard men's tennis (6-2, 0-0 Ivy) slipped past Louisville (5-3, 0-0 ACC) this afternoon, 4-3, to close out their weekend and improve to 6-2 on the year.

How it Happened

To open play, the Crimson narrowly dropped the doubles point by falling in tiebreakers at the No. 1 position.  Ronan Jachuck and Masato Perera picked up the sole doubles victory for the Crimson, powering to a 7-5 win at the No. 2 position over Andre Steinbach and Miguel Avendano (Louisville).

Shortly after falling at the No. 4 singles position and being down 2-0, the Crimson were able to tie the match with wins from Henry von der Schulenburg and Melchior Delloye.  von der Schulenburg picked up the first point for the Crimson by registering the only straight set win with identical 6-4 decisions.  Melchior Delloye then brought the match to two-all following a come from behind win.  After dropping the first set, 3-6, a pair of 6-2 sets gave the sophomore his fourth win of 2023-24.

The Cardinals were able to pull back ahead by taking the No. 6 match and were within a point of clinching with two matches outstanding.  Daniel Milavsky was able to remain undefeated on the season and stalling the Cardinals hopes of victory by downing Andre Steinbach (Louisville) in a three-set battle.  After winning the opening set in tiebreakers, his Cardinal opponent narrowly tied the match in the second.  Ultimately, Milavsky was able to close out the win with a strong 6-3 final set.

Defeating his third ranked opponent of the dual season, Cooper Williams clinched the match by downing No. 34 Etienne Donnet (Louisville).  After falling in tiebreakers in the opening set, the first-year took the next two sets, 6-2, 7-5 to give the Crimson the team win.
