EGREMONT, Mass. – Senior
Elsie Halvorsen placed eighth in the women's slalom, and junior
Matt Ryan finished 10
th in men's slalom as Harvard University alpine skiing closed out a three-day weekend with an NCAA slalom qualifier as part of rescheduled events from the UVM Carnival on Sunday at Catamount Mountain.

After two days of competition at the Williams Carnival from Friday to Saturday, Halvorsen concluded the weekend with top-20 finishes in all three events following her season-best eighth-place finish while Ryan posted his second top-20 finish of the weekend and matched his season best with his 10
th-place effort.

In action at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Massachusetts earlier in the weekend, Halvorsen and senior
Liam McNamara placed 17
th and 15
th respectively in the giant slalom on Friday while Halvorsen and Ryan came in 13
th and 15
th respectively in the slalom on Saturday.

In nordic competition at Prospect Mountain from Friday to Saturday at the Williams Carnival, senior
Rémi Drolet won the men's 10k classic – his third victory of the season – while junior
Quincy Donley came in 26
th in the women's 10k classic on Friday. On Saturday in the 5k skate relay, the men placed sixth and the women came in 14
th.Â
Harvard Highlights: Alpine Day 3 (Sunday)
- Senior Elsie Halvorsen placed a season-best eighth in the women's slalom with a time of 1:32.72 (46.43 run one, 46.29 run two). For the season, she posted her ninth top-30 finish, seventh top-20, and first top-10.
- Junior Matt Ryan came in 10th place in the men's slalom behind a time of 1:31.96 (45.33 run one, 46.63 run two), an effort that included a fifth-place showing in run one. He registered his sixth top-30 finish of the year, fifth top-20, and second top-10, matching his season best with a 10th-place finish.Â
Harvard Highlights: Alpine Day 2 (Saturday)
- Senior Elsie Halvorsen placed 13th in the women's slalom with a 1:43.24 (49.34 run one, 53.90 run two) for 28 EISA points and 20 NCAA points. She notched her eighth top-30 finish of the year, sixth top-20, and fifth top-15.
- Junior Matt Ryan came in 15th in men's slalom with a 1:33.58 (46.08 run one, 47.50 run two), including a third-place effort in run one. He tallied 26 EISA points and 16 NCAA points. He posted his fifth top-30 showing of the season.
- Sophomore Luke Kearing finished in 22nd in men's slalom with a 1:34.84 (47.83 run one, 47.01 run two) for 20 EISA points and nine NCAA points. He registered his second top-30 finish of the carnival season.
- Rounding out the women's finishers, first-year Emma Speiser came in 31st (1:47.49) in her first collegiate finish, and sophomore Olyvia Snyder placed 32nd (1:47.68).Â

- Senior Liam McNamara came in 15th in the men's giant slalom with a 1:35.97. He has placed in the top 30 in all eight events in the 2024 carnival season and notched his third top-20 showing of the year.
- Senior Elsie Halvorsen placed 17th in the women's giant slalom behind a time of 1:39.20. She finished in the top 30 for the seventh time this season and came in the top 20 for the fifth time in 2024.Â
Harvard Highlights: Nordic Day 1 (Friday)
- Senior Rémi Drolet won the men's 10k classic with a time of 31:32.1 for 50 EISA points and 100 NCAA points. He tallied his third victory of the 2024 carnival season and notched his third straight win after taking both events at the Harvard Carnival in his last EISA competition. Drolet has placed in the top three in all seven events in which he has competed this season.
- Junior Quincy Donley came in 26th place in the women's 10k classic, posting a time of 39:35.1, 22 EISA points, and six NCAA points. She registered her sixth top-30 finish of the season.
- Senior Laura Appleby placed 39th (40:14.1, 17 EISA points) in the women's 10k classic while first-year Clara Lake came in 57th (41:38.6, five EISA points).
- As a team on the day, the Harvard men placed seventh with 59 points while the women came in ninth with 44 points.Â
