CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard fencers competed on American and foreign soil this weekend, posting impressive results and performances at national and international junior tournaments.
A trio of Crimson fencers took the strip in Charlotte, N.C. for the 2024 USA Fencing Junior Olympics. In men's epee action, first-year
Owen Jin took 12
th place on the first day of the competition. Later that day, first-year saber duo
Prash Subbiah and
Tommy Choi each earned top-25 finishes at the Junior Olympics. Choi placed 21
st, while Subbiah finished in 24
th.
In Vrsac, Croatia, first-year men's epee fencer
Henry Lawson played a prominent role in the United States' march to a team gold medal at the Junior Men's Epee World Cup. In the individual portion of the event, Lawson took home a bronze medal. Lawson, a native of Manhattan, N.Y., is the 10
th ranked junior men's epee fencer according to the International Fencing Federation's world rankings.
Further west in Beauvais, France, first-year
Isabella Chin impressed at the Junior Women's Epee World Cup, taking sixth place at the tournament. Chin is No. 10 in the FIE's junior women's epee world rankings.
In southern France, sophomore
Matthew Linsky captured 17
th place at the Junior Men's Saber World Cup in Dourdan.
First-Year foil fencer
Daniel Zhang earned a team bronze medal at the Junior Men's Foil World Cup in Sabadell, France, aiding the United States to a third-place finish. Zhang also finished in 17
th place in the individual period of the competition.
Harvard fencing takes the strip on Sunday, Mar. 10 for the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Brooklyn, N.Y.
