Wrestling Ready For 2024 NCAA Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three Harvard wrestlers travel to Kansas City, Mo. this weekend, looking to make history at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Senior Philip Conigliaro, junior Diego Sotelo, and sophomore Jack Crook will wrestle at the T-Mobile Arena between Thursday, Mar. 21 – Saturday, Mar. 23. Crimson fans can catch all the action on the ESPN family of networks.

WHAT TO KNOW:
  • Sotelo and Congiliaro qualify for the NCAA Championships for a second straight season, while Crook will make his NCAAs debut this weekend in Kansas City.
  • A native of Dedham, Mass. and the 2024 Ivy League Wrestler of the Year, Coniglio holds the No. 5 seed in the 174-pound bracket, as he'll face Northern Iowa's Jared Simma in the first round.
  • Conigliaro is now a three-time NCAA qualifier, as the three-time first team All-Ivy league honoree will bring a 24-3 record to Kansas City.
  • Sotelo, a junior from Plainfield, Ill., heads to the NCAA tournament for back-to-back season, as enters the competition as a No. 28 seed in the 125-pound bracket and will face No. 5 Jore Volk from Wyoming in the first round.
  • A 2024 All-Ivy League honorable mention, Sotelo posted a 23-10 record on the season, ranking second on the team in victories.
  • After taking second place at the 2024 EIWA Championships, Crook is set to make his NCAA Championships debut this weekend.
  • Hailing from Tampa, Fla., Crook enjoyed a breakout sophomore season, posting a 15-9 record while earning second team All-Ivy League recognition.
  • Crook is the No. 27 seed in the 149-pound bracket and will face No. 6 Austin Gomez from Michigan in the first round on Thursday.
  • Over his legendary 30-year coaching tenure in Cambridge, The David G. Bunning '88 Head Coach for Harvard Wrestling Jay Weiss mentored two student-athletes to NCAA national championships.
  • In 2010, J.P. O'Connor '10 captured the 2010 NCAA National Championship in the 157-pound weight class, while Jesse Jantzen '04 took home the 2004 NCAA National Championship in the 149-pound weight class.
  • Under Weiss' guidance, 20 Harvard student-athletes earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships.
