COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. – For the first time in their fencing careers, Harvard fencing's Lauren Scruggs and Elizabeth Tartakovsky '23 will represent the United States at the Olympics, as the pair of Crimson fencers have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 2023 NCAA Women's Foil National Champion, Scruggs heads to her first Olympics at the age of 21. The Queens, N.Y. native secured her spot on the United States team in style this past weekend, as Scruggs took bronze at the Senior Women's Foil Grand Prix, her first medal at a senior event in her career. In the International Fencing Federation's senior women's foil world rankings, Scruggs ranks 12^th in the world.

A native of Livingston, N.J. and a member of the Class of 2023, Tartakovsky punched her Olympic ticket after taking a top-50 place at the Senior Women's Saber World Cup this past weekend. In FIE's world rankings, Tartakovsky sits in 15^th. In 2023, Tartakovsky won her first senior medal at the Women's Saber World Cup in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Tartakovsky enjoyed an incredible collegiate career, earning first team All-America honors three times in her career, while winning the 2022 NCAA Women's Saber National Championship and taking silver at the 2023 NCAA Fencing Championships.

Next weekend, a pair of men's saber alums look to lock in their spots on Team USA for the upcoming Pairs Olympic Games. Mitchell Saron '23 and Filip Dolegiewicz '23 travel to Budapest, Hungary for the Men's Saber World Cup on Friday, Mar. 22 and Saturday, Mar. 23.

Scruggs and Tartakovsky join Eli Dershwitz '19 on Team USA. The sport of fencing competes at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday, July 27 – Sunday, Aug. 4.
