NEW YORK – The Crimson rallied for an 8-5 victory in game two after dropping a narrow 3-2 decision in game one as Harvard University baseball split a doubleheader with Columbia University on Friday afternoon at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium in the two team's Ivy League opening series.

Competing in a Friday twin bill due to weather forecasts for Saturday, the Crimson (3-12, 1-1 Ivy) used four runs in the seventh and another three runs in the eighth to gain separation from the Lions (5-12, 1-1 Ivy) in game two after the visitors forced the hosts to come to the plate in the bottom of the ninth in a one-run game in the opening contest.

The Crimson tied the game in the top of the ninth before the Lions took the decision in the bottom of the frame as Harvard fell to Columbia in game one, 3-2.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, the visiting Crimson scored once in the sixth and once in the ninth to tie the score before the Lions hit a walk-off single in the last of the ninth.

How It Happened
- Columbia took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs on a single to left field.
- Harvard trimmed the margin to 2-1 in the top of the sixth as Berger sent an RBI single up the middle to plate Rounds who set the table with a lead-off double.
- The Crimson knotted the score at 2-2 in the top of the ninth as Giberti sent a single to left field to bring home Lybrook who hit a pinch-hit double earlier in the frame.
- The Lions closed the game with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.

How It Happened
- The Crimson opened the scoring in the top of the second as an RBI single to left field from Cooper plated Lybrook to make the score 1-0.
- Columbia knotted the game at 1-1 with a run in the last of the third.
- The Lions took a 2-1 edge in the bottom of the sixth following an error.
- Harvard responded with a four-run top of the seventh to move ahead 5-2. Rounds started the rally with a home run to center field to make the score even at 2-2. Lane followed with a bases-clearing triple to push the visitors in front, 5-2.
- After Columbia drew level at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, the Crimson countered with three runs in the top of the eighth to pull back ahead 8-5. Snopek started the frame's scoring with a solo home run to left field before Messervy brought home a run with an infield single. Cooper capped the scoring with an RBI triple to center field.
- Smith retired the side in order in the last of the eighth and struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to close the victory.Â
