CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University baseball battled the University of Pennsylvania in an Ivy League doubleheader, dropping a narrow 7-5 decision in 10 innings in game one before falling 8-3 in game two on Saturday afternoon at O'Donnell Field.

Opening its final home series of the season, the Crimson (11-24, 7-10 Ivy) rallied to take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth in game one and forced extra innings with a run in the ninth before the Quakers (17-20, 9-8 Ivy) took the lid lifter and held off a rally from the hosts in the nightcap. Harvard stands two games back of Penn for fourth place in the Ivy standings.

William Lybrook hit a home run for the fourth straight Ivy game, and the Crimson rallied to take a lead in the bottom of the eighth before Harvard fell to Penn in 10 innings, 7-5, in the series opener.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Crimson scored twice in the seventh and twice in the eighth to move ahead 4-2 and rallied again after trailing 5-4 in the ninth to force extra innings at 5-5 before the Quakers scored twice in the top of the 10
th to take the decision.

How It Happened
- Penn opened the game's scoring, plating an unearned run in the top of the second.
- Matson tallied eight strikeouts through the first four innings to hold Penn to the one unearned run during that time.
- The Crimson threatened in the bottom of the fourth, placing runners on first and third with two outs following singles from Rounds and Lybrook before the Quakers escaped the jam.
- The Quakers made their edge 2-0 with a run in the top of the fifth. Matson allowed just one run after facing a bases-loaded situation with no outs.
- Harvard knotted the score at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. After Lybrook hit a solo home run to left center – his fourth straight Ivy game with a homer – Snopek came home to score following a bunt from Lane.
- The Crimson took a 4-2 lead in the last of the eighth with two more runs. Rounds plated a go-ahead run with a double down the left field line before later coming home to score on a sacrifice fly from Berger.
- The visitors went ahead 5-4 in the top of the ninth behind a three-run double.
- Harvard tied the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single from Fang.
- The Quakers scored a pair of runs on a two-run single in the top of the 10th to re-take a 7-5 lead.Â

Ben Rounds hit a two-run double that pulled the Crimson within one run in the fifth inning, but Harvard fell to Penn, 8-3, in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
