Men's Volleyball Drops Contest to No. 16 George Mason, 3-0

Box Score FAIRFAX, VA – Harvard men's volleyball (11-9, 3-4 EIVA) dropped its second battle with No. 16 George Mason (16-7, 5-2 EIVA), 3-0. 

How it Happened

The Crimson started the first set, forcing several ties across the opening points but the Patriots used a few short scoring runs to create multiple three-point leads.  Despite Harvard pressuring, a mid-set five-point scoring run for George Mason provided the Patriots with a comfortable lead.  The Patriots were ultimately able to hold off a late set run to close out the first set, winning 25-20.
 
George Mason kept their momentum going into the second set, pulling out to an early 6-1 lead but the Crimson rallied to tie the match up at 11-11 and then pulling into the lead.  Harvard was able to hold the lead throughout the majority of the second set but a late Patriots run put George Mason up 2-0 with a 25-23 second set. 
 
The Patriots carried their late second set spark into the third set, going up 6-0 to open the set.  George Mason ultimately closed out the set and the match with a 25-16 final set decision. 

Next Up

The Crimson will return home next weekend for its final two matches of the season, welcoming New Jersey Institute of Technology on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
