PROVIDENCE, RI – No. 12 Harvard men's tennis (17-5, 3-0 Ivy) improved to 3-0 in Ivy League action by sweeping Brown (5-15, 0-2 Ivy), 7-0, this evening.
How it Happened
The Crimson won the doubles point for the fourth straight match by claiming victories at the No. 1 and 3 positions.
David Lins and
Daniel Milavsky and
Masato Perera and
Alan Yim teamed up for Harvard and each producing 6-4 results in their respective matches.
Moving into singles action,
Ronan Jachuck and
Rohan Murali posted back-to-back straight set victories at the No. 2 and 4 spots, to pull the Crimson within a match of clinching the win.
With three matches still outstanding,
Daniel Milavsky defeated Alex Finkelstein (Brown), 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 1 position to register his 17
th win of 2023-24.
The trio of sophomores in
Melchior Delloye,
Masato Perera, and
Valdemar Pape closed out the sweep for the Crimson by winning each of their matches in straight sets. Pape registered the final win of the day by closing out the No. 6 spot match in a second set tiebreaker for his first Ivy victory of the year.
Harvard Highlights
- The two-time defending Ivy champions improved to 17-5 overall and 3-0 in league play with its 7-0 sweep of the Brown Bears this afternoon. The Crimson have now extended its win streak to four.
- The Crimson swept the Bears by winning each of its singles matches in straight sets. Rohan Murali dropped the least number of games of any Harvard player by defeating James Lian (Brown), 6-1, 6-2.
- Daniel Milavsky continues to lead the Crimson in both singles and doubles victories. The junior has had a strong campaign in 2023-24, accumulating a singles record of 17-7 and a doubles record of 25-9.
- Valdemar Pape who was a strong contributor to the Crimson Ivy championship last season, collected his first league win of the season with his 6-2, 7-6 (1) victory at the No. 6 spot this afternoon.
