LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Senior
Maia Ramsden wrote another incredible chapter in her Crimson career at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, as the defending NCAA Women's 1,500m National Champion broke the New Zealand 1,500m national record. Ramsden crossed the finish line in 4:02.58 at UCLA's Drake Stadium, taking 11
th place. The result also ranks second on the NCAA's all-time performance list.
The 2023-24 indoor and outdoor track campaign is one to remember for Ramsden. After breaking the Ivy League record in the women's 3,000m at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Classic with a time of 8:46.84, Ramsden won her second NCAA national title at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, taking first place in the women's mile.
In the outdoor season, Ramsden broke two more records. At the Wake Forest Invitational, Ramsden set a new Ivy League record in the women's 1,500m, surpassing her own record with a time of 4:07.30. Joined by her teammates
Victoria Bossong, Chloe Fair, and
Sophia Gorriaran, Ramsden pushed the Crimson to a historic showing at the 2024 Penn Relays, as the women's distance medley relay squad set a new NCAA record with a time of 10:37.55.
This week, Harvard travels south for the 2024 NCAA East Region First Round. Competition starts on Wednesday, May 22 and ends on Saturday, May 25 in Lexington, Kentucky.
