EUGENE, Ore. – Harvard track & field continued to find success at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Friday night, as
Gabby Thomas '19 moved a step closer to qualifying for her second Olympic games, advancing to the women's 200m final with a dominant performance.
A 2020 Tokyo Olympian and native of Northampton, Massachusetts, Thomas ran in the third and final heat of the women's 200m semifinals, as she posted a time of 21.78 to win the heat, qualifying for the women's 200m final with the current world-leading time in the event. Thomas will run the women's 200m final tomorrow night at 8:27 p.m.
Earlier in the evening, senior
Aaron Shirley made history in the men's 400m hurdles semifinals. Taking part in the third heat, Shirley crossed the finish line at 49.58, breaking his own school record from 2023. Shirley just missed out on a spot in the final, as he placed ninth overall in the semifinals.
