Four Crimson Set for Track & Field Action at 2024 Paris Olympics

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A quartet of current and former Harvard track & field student-athletes will compete on one of the most prestigious stages in their sport, as rising senior Graham Blanks, Maia Ramsden '24, Stephanie Ratcliffe '23, and Gabby Thomas '19 will represent the Crimson at the 2024 Paris Olympics. All four athletes won one or more NCAA national titles during their time in Cambridge.

Heading to her second Olympic Games, Thomas enters the 2024 Paris Olympic as one of the marquee names on the United States rosters. At her Olympic debut during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Thomas took home a pair of medals, bronze in the women's 200m dash and silver in the women's 4x100m relay. At the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, Thomas made a statement, posting a time of 21.78 in the 200m semifinals, the fastest time in the world this year. At the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Thomas won silver in the 200m and pushed the United States to a world championship in the 4x100m relay. A Crimson legend, Thomas won a NCAA national title in the women's 200m at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships.

The first finalist for The Bowerman in program history, Ramsden will run the women's 1500m for New Zealand at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the first time in her career. The 2023-24 collegiate season was one to remember for Ramsden. After earning All-America honors in cross country for the second time in her career at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships, Ramsden won NCAA national titles in the indoor mile and the outdoor 1500m, as her three individual national titles are the most in program history. Along with her dominance in the collegiate circuit, Ramsden made appearances at several high-profile professional meets. She broke the Ivy League record in the women's indoor mile at the 116th Millrose Games (4:24.83) and went on to set a New Zealand national record at the World Indoor Championships in the indoor 1500m (4:06.51). In outdoor competition, Ramsden broke another New Zealand national record in the outdoor 1500m at the USATF Grand Prix, posting a time of 4:02.58, a result that also ranks second all-time, all-competitions in NCAA history. Following her graduation from Harvard, Ramsden turned pro, singing a contract with On Athletics Club.

Blanks will make his Olympic debut for Team USA in the 5000m at the 2024 Paris Olympics. A native of Athens, Georgia, Blanks made history during the 2023-24 collegiate season, as he became the first student-athlete in Ivy League history to win the NCAA Men's Cross Country National Championship, completing an undefeated cross country season in the process. In his first indoor track & field meet, Blanks met the Olympic standard in the 5000m with a time of 13:03.78 at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, setting a then NCAA record in the 5000m in the process. During the outdoor season, Blanks earned All-America First Team honors in the 5000m for the second time in his career, as he reset his own Ivy League record in the 5000m at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials with a time of 13:12.61.

The 2023 NCAA National Champion in the women's hammer throw, Ratcliffe will compete in the women's hammer throw for Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. A member of the Class of 2023, Ratcliffe broke out during the 2023 track & field season. After winning the 2023 Ivy League title in the women's weight throw, Ratcliffe went undefeated in all hammer throw appearances during the 2023 outdoor season, culminating with an NCAA national title in the hammer throw. Ratcliffe owns the school records in the weight throw (21.88m/71'9.5") and the hammer throw (73.63m/241'7").
