PARIS – Former Harvard track & field star
Gabby Thomas '19 took the next step in her quest for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as the Northampton, Massachusetts native secured a spot in tomorrow's 200m final.
Running in the second heat of the 200m semifinal, a strong finish down the straightaway saw Thomas cruise to first place, as she crossed the finish line in 21.86, the top-mark among all competitors in the semifinal.
Thomas is one of three Team USA members in tomorrow's 200m final, as she looks to become first female gold medalist in program history. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Thomas took home two medals, bronze in the 200m and silver in the 4x100m relay. Thomas still holds the fastest 200m time in the world this year, as she posted a 21.78 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials earlier this summer. At the 2023 USA Championships, Thomas ran a personal-best 21.60 in the 200m.
