PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Harvard Sailing sophomore
Robby Meek is the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Open Sailor of the Week, the organization announced today.
A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Meek captured the Monotype Trophy at the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship last week in Providence. The sophomore won four of seven races in challenging conditions against competitive 34-boat fleet, ultimately finishing atop the leaderboard with 18 points. Meek's final score was less than half of the event's runner-up, Mathias Reimer of Yale (39).
With his victory, Meek, who finished in second place at the very same regatta in 2023, secured an automatic berth to the 2024 ICSA Open Singlehanded National Championship, which is slated for Nov. 9-10 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Meek and the Crimson return to action this weekend, Sept. 21-22, with four regattas on tap. Harvard is scheduled to compete at the NEISA Match Racing Championships (New London, Conn.), Hoyt Trophy (Providence), Mrs. Hurst Bowl (Hanover, N.H.) and Hood Trophy (Medford, Mass.).
