David Abrahams '24 finished in sixth place in the 200-meter individual medley – SM13 at the 2024 Paris Paralympics on Tuesday at Paris La Defense Arena.
A native of Havertown, Pennsylvania, Abrahams opened his day with a third-place time of 2:17.81 in Heat 2, securing a spot in the eight-athlete final. The recent graduate returned to the pool deck in the afternoon and posted a final time of 2:16.95.
Earning medals in the race were Ihar Boki (NPA), who set a world record with his 2:02.03, Alex Portal of France (2:06.66; silver) and NPA's Vladimir Sotnikov (2:10.56; bronze). Also finishing ahead of Abrahams were Kyrylo Garashchenko (Ukraine; 2:14.27) and Thomas van Wanrooij (Netherlands; 2:15.38).
Abrahams continues his Paralympic journey on Sept. 5, when he competes in the 100-meter breaststroke – SB 13, an event he won a silver medal in during the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. The heats are scheduled for a 4:51 a.m. ET start, with the final slated for 1:03 p.m. ET. Peacock will have live coverage of the event.
